Do I need an F-tax certificate to invoice?

Tax & VAT 2 min Uppdaterad 2 augusti 2026

No, you do not need an F-tax certificate to invoice through Paidin. The invoices you send go through Paidin's F-tax certificate, so you can invoice as a private individual without your own company. Paidin is your employer during the assignment and deducts tax and pays employer contributions before your salary is paid out.

When is F-tax needed, and when not?

  • If you run a sole proprietorship or limited company, you need your own F-tax certificate and handle tax, VAT and contributions yourself.
  • If you invoice through Paidin, no F-tax certificate is needed; everything goes through Paidin's.
  • You can use Paidin even if you have never had a company, or alongside regular employment.

What is the difference compared to having my own company?

With your own company you are responsible for accounting, VAT reporting, tax returns and tax payments. With umbrella employment through Paidin you avoid all of that: Paidin issues the invoice in its name, reports the VAT, deducts preliminary tax and pays the employer contributions.

How do I file my tax return?

Your income through Paidin is reported as regular employment income. It is pre-filled in your personal tax return at the Swedish Tax Agency, just like a salary from any employer. You do not need to attach anything or declare business activity.
