Is occupational pension included?
Yes. Everyone who invoices through Paidin can activate occupational pension via SPP Pension & Försäkring, without a separate agreement and without contacting us first. You turn it on in the portal, choose how much of your salary to set aside, and the contribution is then made automatically every time an invoice is paid out as salary. You can change the percentage whenever you like.
How to activate occupational pension
- Log in to the portal and go to Settings.
- Drag the Occupational pension slider to the level you want.
- Save. The level applies to invoices you send from then on.
The percentage is set per invoice, so a change affects future payouts and not those already made.
How much can I set aside?
You choose freely between 0 and 30 percent, in steps of 0.5 percentage points. Zero means no contribution, which is the default until you change it.
| Level | Who it tends to suit |
|---|---|
| 0 % | You save for retirement another way, or want to maximise take-home pay now |
| 4.5 % | Matches the most common level in Swedish collective agreement pensions below the salary threshold |
| 10 % | You have no other pension savings and want to compensate for that |
| Up to 30 % | You are invoicing at a high level for a period and want to convert salary into pension |
The table is guidance, not financial advice. The right level depends on your other pension arrangements, your age and how long you plan to keep invoicing.
What does it cost?
Occupational pension is not a fee to Paidin. It is part of your own compensation, moved from cash salary into pension savings.
| Item | What happens |
|---|---|
| Paidin's service fee | Not affected. The fee is calculated on the invoice amount, not on how you allocate your salary |
| The pension contribution | Deducted from the invoice amount before salary is paid out |
| Special payroll tax | 24.26 % on the contribution, paid to the Swedish Tax Agency |
| Your net salary | Decreases by the contribution plus the payroll tax |
| Income tax | Not paid on the amount going into pension, only when the pension is drawn |
Example: setting aside 4.5 percent on a salary component of SEK 30,000 gives a contribution of SEK 1,350, and payroll tax on that of SEK 328. In total SEK 1,678 moves from paid-out salary into pension savings.
Good to know
- The money is yours. It is placed in your own policy with SPP and stays with you even if you stop invoicing through Paidin.
- The contribution appears on your payslip and is reported to the Swedish Tax Agency through the employer declaration.
- You do not need to invoice regularly. Contributions are made per invoice, so it works even if you invoice infrequently.
- During an ongoing wage garnishment by the Swedish Enforcement Authority the slider is locked. Contact support if you have questions about this.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the percentage later?
Yes, at any time in Settings. The change applies to invoices you send from then on; salaries already paid out are unaffected.
Can I move the pension to another provider?
The contribution is placed in a policy with SPP Pension & Försäkring. Questions about transferring capital are handled directly with SPP.
Does occupational pension reduce my sick pay or SGI?
Your SGI is based on cash salary. Choosing to move part of your salary into pension lowers the cash salary, which can affect benefits calculated on it. Contact Försäkringskassan if you are unsure how your SGI is affected.
Do I get occupational pension automatically?
No. The default is 0 percent, meaning no contribution. You need to activate it yourself in the portal.
